Description1/18 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Lungo. Part of the new Minichamps 'Premium Collection' line, this Alfa is considered by some to be the most beautiful car ever made. The 8C 2900B traces it roots to the 8C 2300 of 1931, which took four straight victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours driven by the likes of Nuvolari and Chinetti. The 8C 2900A was developed to compete in Italy’s Mille Miglia. Six cars were constructed and three were entered in the 1936 running of the event. They finished 1-2-3. Alfa then won again in 1937. Due to these successes in competition Alfa created a road-going version for well heeled clients. The road car featured a less powerful engine and came in either a 'Corso' variant or the longer wheelbase 'Lungo'. This model is replicating the Touring Berlinetta on the long wheelbase. Approximately 30 chassis were eventually bodied. The Touring factory constructed 10 coupes and 20 spyders. The car chosen to be modelled here is the very first of the 10 Berlinettas created by Carrozzeria Touring.
