Description1950 Le Mans LIP pocket watch. A vintage stop watch in fine working condition with two subdials and a white face. The 51mm steel case has been inscribed at the back 'LES 24 HEURES DU MANS 1950 No 32'. LIP was a French company with roots dating back to 1867. In 1896 they launched their first stopwatch, and in later years Piaget worked for them. They closed shop in 1976. This watch was presumably given to one of the participants. The race was won by the Talbot Lago T26 GS, followed by another Talbot Lago and an Allard J2. Several Ferrari 166 MM & a 195 S campaigned but did not finish. The #32 at the back could be a limited edition number or could refer to the Lord Selsdon Ferrari 166 MM that finished 32nd, or the Simca-Gordini T15S that wore #32.
